PCB Unveils 15-Man Squad for T20 World Cup 2024

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the USA and Caribbean. The announcement was made following a two-hour selection committee meeting on Friday.

Focus on the New Additions

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who recently came out of retirement, are among the notable inclusions in the squad led by captain Babar Azam. This marks a significant return for both players, with Amir last playing in the 2016 T20 World Cup and Wasim in the 2021 edition.

The selection committee, comprising Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Bilal Afzal, Gary Kirsten, Mohammad Yousuf, and Wahab Riaz, confirmed the team. The squad includes several new faces set to make their T20 World Cup debuts, including Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan.

Experienced Players

Eight players from the squad participated in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. This blend of experienced players and fresh talent aims to create a balanced and competitive team. Haris Rauf, who was sidelined due to a shoulder dislocation during the PSL, has recovered and is bowling well in the nets. The PCB expressed confidence in his form, noting his importance alongside other key bowlers in the T20 World Cup campaign.

Currently, the Pakistan team is in England for a four-match T20 series as part of their World Cup preparations. The PCB has outlined a series of matches leading up to and during the tournament.

Pakistan has been seeded as A2 in the first round. If they advance to the Super Eight, their matches will be:
