Ali Khan and Monank Patel of the U.S. Cricket Team pose prior to the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup West Indies & USA 2024 match between USA and Canada at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium on May 29, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. After a thrilling victory against Canada in the opening match, the U.S. is set to face Pakistan in its second match of the tournament. This will be Pakistan’s first game in this edition of the World Cup.

Vice-captain Aaron Jones expressed his confidence in the team during an April interview with USA TODAY, praising the squad’s strength and dynamic. Jones, who scored 94 runs off 40 balls and was awarded Man of the Match in the opening game, emphasized the diverse backgrounds of the team members as a significant advantage.

Vice-Captain’s Optimism

“One thing I think is really strong for us is that we have guys from all over the world,” Jones said. “And you can use that as something to truly be a strength for us.” He added that the players are always open to sharing feedback and insights, which strengthens the team.

The U.S. team, making its T20 World Cup debut, faces a seasoned Pakistan squad. Pakistan, champions in 2009 and runners-up in 2022, brings experience and confidence to the tournament. Pakistan captain Babar Azam stated that his team is “extremely confident” going into the 2024 World Cup, aiming to win the title for their passionate supporters.
